 CFL Proposition

Our big news for the month of May is the upcoming proposition vote (Proposition #3) on the Canton Central School Ballot. As operating costs continue to rise, we’re asking for an increase of $7,000 for a total of $96,000 for the Canton Free Library. This represents a 2% increase in our overall budget. The vote takes place on May 20th at the Hugh C. Williams High School.

Why is the increase needed? The CFL works hard to provide wonderful programs and resources to community members from a wide range of household economies. The additional funds help the CFL stay current and improve its services, allowing us to continue to offer print and e-books, DVDS, magazines and newspapers, and programming for all ages.

 Earth Day Reads

Happy Earth Day! Earth day was first celebrated in 1970 by supporters of environmental protections. Four decades later, Earth Day has grown into an event that is celebrated by more than 192 countries.

At the Canton Free Library, we feel fortunate to be part of a community that cares about our environment and green living. We know that every day is Earth Day for many of you, and the CFL serves as a valuable resource for books on environmentally conscious lifestyles.  This week we invite all of our patrons to check out books that celebrate, educate, and raise awareness for Earth Day.
