Ghost Stories

Happy Halloween from the Canton Free Library! Get in the spirit with a ghost story. Paranormal fiction is one of the highest-circulating genres in our library, and there’s no better time of year to enjoy it.

Check out the newly-released novel Rooms by NY Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver for an imaginative tale filled with hauntings and family secrets. After wealthy Richard Walker dies, his estranged family gathers to collect their inheritance. Long dead ghosts Alice and Sandra observe them, and make themselves known through the country house. When a new ghost arrives on the scene, the spirit and human realms collide.

In teen fiction, we have Ana Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake, a paranormal love story. Like his father before him, Cas Lowood hunts the undead, a vocation that brings him to a deserted Victorian house haunted by a violent ghost known as Ana. Cas finds unexpected love and horror as Ana’s story unfolds.

 Bestsellers at Your Library

On October 10, 1896, the New York Times published its first book review section which would later include the famous NY Times Best Seller list. These days, you know you are kind of a big deal when your name appears on that list. For authors around the world, making The NY Times list is a crowning achievement. At the Canton Free Library, we offer many top selections from the NY Times list in our ongoing endeavor to provide our patrons with current popular materials.
