 Pick a Good Book

Come wander through our garden of books! We’re featuring books with flowers in the monthly book display created by Beverly Ewart, our technical processing specialist. From gardening books to novels, these books will help you enjoy our beautiful North Country spring to the fullest.

Pick up Wildflowers of the Adirondacks by Anne McGrath to identify the blooms you see on your spring hikes. With 120 photographs, this book is a field guide to the most common wildflowers found in the Adirondacks and the neighboring regions. For easy access, wildflowers are grouped first by color and then by time of bloom.

 CFL Proposition

Our big news for the month of May is the upcoming proposition vote (Proposition #3) on the Canton Central School Ballot. As operating costs continue to rise, we’re asking for an increase of $7,000 for a total of $96,000 for the Canton Free Library. This represents a 2% increase in our overall budget. The vote takes place on May 20th at the Hugh C. Williams High School.

Why is the increase needed? The CFL works hard to provide wonderful programs and resources to community members from a wide range of household economies. The additional funds help the CFL stay current and improve its services, allowing us to continue to offer print and e-books, DVDS, magazines and newspapers, and programming for all ages.
